Every great story, no matter how epic, must eventually reach its finale. In the world of ancient Germanic myths, legends were created to teach obedience, respect, and humility, while showcasing the raw power of nature. In 2020, Germania Mint began a numismatic journey aimed at immortalizing these fascinating creatures in pure silver. Today, the threads of destiny lead us to the ultimate chapter of the Germania Beasts series.

Following the dragon, the wolf, and the golden-maned boar, the time has come to introduce the most extraordinary mythical steed of the gods. Meet Sleipnir – the fourth and final beast, closing this iconic saga in magnificent style.

A look into the past: a journey through the bestiary

Before we cross the final boundary between worlds, let us recall the legendary beasts that paved the way for Sleipnir and sent shockwaves through the numismatic world:

2020 – Fafnir: The journey began with the wise and powerful dragon. Fafnir introduced a revolutionary, highly unique concept where the obverse and reverse form one seamless silhouette, coiling across the coin in the shape of an infinity sign.

2022 – Fenrir: Next came the giant, fearsome wolf. Bound by the gods in fear of his dark destiny, Fenrir radiated unrestrained strength, immortalized through sharp fangs and muscular tension.

2025 – Gullinbursti: The third awakening brought the golden-maned boar, forged by dwarven craftsmen. Adorned with the rune Fehu, Gullinbursti embodied divine resilience and a brilliance capable of illuminating the deepest darkness.

Now, in 2026, the spotlight turns to the final legend - Sleipnir, born from one of the most unexpected and extraordinary myths of the North.

Sleipnir: Odin’s eight-legged steed

Sleipnir came into the world as the offspring of the mighty stallion Svaðilfari and the trickster god Loki himself, who had taken the form of a beautiful mare to thwart the giants’ plans. This unusual lineage gifted the steed with supernatural traits, making him the most loyal and magnificent companion to Odin. He was renowned for his ability to gallop across the sea, cut through the clouds, and traverse the nine worlds faster than any other creature, effortlessly crossing the boundaries between the realms of gods, humans, and the land of the dead. His eight-legged nature symbolizes absolute speed, fluid motion, and divine omnipresence, making him a living symbol of Asgard’s power.

The design, masterfully crafted by the talented Natalia Danysz, flawlessly continues the signature concept of the series, dividing the beast’s anatomy across both sides of the coin:

The obverse: Showcases the majestic head along with the front section of Sleipnir’s muscular body. Four powerful legs depicted in motion highlight his supernatural strength and dynamism.

The reverse: Completes the horse’s distinctive, eight-legged silhouette, showing the rear part of his body in full gallop. In the background, as always, the iconic Germania Mint symbol – the double-headed eagle – reinforces the coin’s identity and prestige.

Ruthenium & Antique Finish: The coin’s background and the richly detailed saddle are ruthenium plated, creating a deep, perfect contrast with the horse’s body finished in the Antique Finish technique.

Gold: Pure gold plating intricately covers the ornamental collar on his neck, the ring at the base of his tail, and the bracelets adorning each of the steed’s eight legs.

Chameleon & UV Effect: A subtle, grayish-blue Chameleon coating is applied to the mane, tail, and the bristles near the hooves, making them gently shimmer in the light, while revealing a brilliant blue glow under a UV lamp.

Packaging: The coin is enclosed in a special lens capsule, and the entire set comes with an elegant acrylic and wood display (Acrylic Glass Display) and an eco-friendly Qureco carton box – fully consistent with the packaging of previous releases in the series.

The bestiary is complete

Sleipnir is not just another coin in your collection – he is the final piece of the puzzle that collectors around the world have been anticipating for six years. Only now, when all four releases are placed side by side, can the full craftsmanship, scope, and technological evolution of this series be truly appreciated. Each beast told a story of different forces of nature, but gathered together, they create a monumental, silver image of ancient beliefs.

Although this particular saga has reached its end, and the gates to the mythical bestiary are slowly closing, rich mythology and ancient legends still hold many uncharted secrets. The shadows of the past rarely fall silent forever, and the world of Germania Mint abhors a vacuum… Who knows what extraordinary tales are yet to be discovered and cast in pure silver? After all, the best stories may be yet to come.
