Gullinbursti – the Third Beast in the Germania Beasts Series

Published on 15.04.2025 in News

In the depths of mythical forests, among mists and shadows, a new beast awakens. Its heavy steps echo through the earth, and golden bristles shimmer through the trees like the first light of dawn. Gullinbursti – a boar born in the forges of dwarves – now joins the ranks of the most legendary creatures in the Germania Beasts Series. Following the dragon-like Fafnir and the fearsome wolf Fenrir, the choice of the third figure was far from accidental. The development of Gullinbursti took months – we wanted to ensure that its image would be a worthy continuation of the Germania Beasts saga. This creature embodies both the raw power of nature and divine energy – a boar that knows no limits, does not retreat, and cannot be tamed.

A Golden-Maned Gift for a God

According to Germanic mythology, Gullinbursti was forged by the master dwarves Sindri and Brokkr, the same who crafted the greatest artifacts of the gods. The boar was a gift for Freyr, the god of fertility and light, and its golden bristles had the power to illuminate even the darkest paths. Gullinbursti never tired, could fly, and was nearly indestructible. On the coin by Germania Mint, it has been given an even more mystical presence – its body is adorned with ornaments that enhance its divine power, and its tusks bear the rune Fehu, a symbol of abundance and prosperity. The creature’s dynamic silhouette gives the impression of galloping across the sky, lighting everything around it. As in previous coins from the series, the Beast’s image stretches across both the obverse and reverse, creating a single cohesive design.

Three Faces of Gullinbursti

Just like its predecessors, the Gullinbursti coin has been issued in three exceptional versions – each offering a different level of finish, exclusivity, and collector value:

Gullinbursti 1 oz Silver BU
A classic one-ounce edition for collectors who appreciate a balance between clean form and intricate detail. The obverse shows the boar’s powerful head with its characteristic bristles and tusks; the reverse features its massive body adorned with ornamental patterns. In the background – the unmistakable double-headed eagle of Germania Mint. Each coin is sealed in a lens capsule and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Gullinbursti Geminus 2 x 1 oz Silver BU
An exclusive set of two coins with alternating ennoblements, which – placed in the Infinity capsule – form a striking whole. The edition is strictly limited to 500 numbered sets, packaged in a premium blister with metallic effect and 3D embossing.

Gullinbursti Ultra Double High Relief 2 oz Silver BU
The most exclusive version of the coin, struck in just 999 pieces. The 2 oz format with ultra high relief reveals every detail with exceptional clarity. The Beast’s body is enriched with colorful ornamentation using the Chameleon finish – already known from earlier editions of the series. The coin also features Ruthenium, Gold Plating, and a UV Effect that reveals a glowing red eye under light. The set includes a dedicated wood and acrylic display, and a Certificate of Authenticity.

From Mythical Legends to Silver Coins

Germania Beasts is a unique chapter in the story of Germania Mint – a series where ancient legends take on a new, numismatic form. From the very beginning, this project has been about more than just technique and design – it has always been about storytelling. The first beast was Fafnir – a wise and powerful dragon whose body coiled across the coin in the shape of infinity. With shimmering scales and a symbolic reference to greed and destruction, Fafnir introduced the unique concept of a divided design – where obverse and reverse form one seamless silhouette. Next came Fenrir – the massive wolf, chained by the gods in fear of his dark destiny. His image radiated tension – muscular form, runic symbols, and chains that could barely contain his raw power. Fenrir became a true icon of unrestrained force. Now, Gullinbursti joins them – the third beast, and yet another chapter in a mythological saga cast in silver.

In Germanic mythology, beasts were never just creatures of fear – they held meaning. They embodied the forces of nature, marked forbidden boundaries, and taught lessons meant never to be forgotten. We hope that Gullinbursti, like his legendary predecessors, will find a lasting place in the hearts of collectors. All three editions of the coin will be available through our Authorized Distributors.
