Our team at Germania Mint Packaging, a leading manufacturer of packaging solutions, was entrusted with creating a product for the German collectible coin distributor Münzenversandhaus Reppa GmbH. The challenge was to design a large-format packaging for the 3 x 5 Dollars Samoa – Advanced Art, Leonardo da Vinci series, which features three giant silver bar coins (dimensions 254 mm x 170 mm) adorned with unique giclée printing. The result? A luxurious package that showcases the numismatics in a striking way.

The 3 x 5 Dollars Samoa – Advanced Art collection is a tribute to the genius of Leonardo da Vinci, highlighting his most iconic works. The silver used for the bar coins is paired with cutting-edge giclée printing technology, capturing the finest artistic details. This posed a clear challenge for the packaging designers: how to create something that emphasizes both the prestige of the collection and its artistic value, while ensuring a dignified and secure display?

From Concept to Execution – A Design Challenge

The task faced by our design team required creativity and the use of innovative technologies. The packaging had to meet several key criteria: protect the valuable bar coins, allow for convenient presentation, and highlight their unique character. All of this needed to be executed in an elegant and durable manner, reflecting the prestigious nature of this limited edition.

 

To achieve this, a special pop-up plastic holder was designed, enabling repeated removal of the capsules from the packaging. Equally important was the album’s aesthetics. The cover was crafted from laminated paper, coated with high-quality offset prints. This not only enhanced the elegance of the packaging but also increased its durability.

The Result – Perfection in Every Detail

The packaging for the 3 x 5 Dollars Samoa series met the expectations of Münzenversandhaus Reppa GmbH, becoming an integral part of the collection. Its luxurious appearance and functionality provided collectors with a complete product – both artistically and practically.

The technologies employed allowed for the seamless integration of form and function. The bar coins can be easily removed and examined without risk of damage, while the album itself presents an impressive visual appeal, elevating the series to the level of an exclusive art piece.
