Ragnarök: Loki and Heimdall – The clash of gods begins

Published on 05.11.2025 in News

After the devouring of the Sun and Moon by the wolves Sköll and Hati, a new chapter in the Germanic end of the world begins – Ragnarök. Germania Mint continues the epic saga of the twilight of the gods, introducing the second release in the Ragnarök series – Loki and Heimdall. This time, the story takes us to the very heart of the final battle, where chaos and order stand face to face – and neither will prevail.

Chaos and vigilance

Loki – the god of deceit, lies, and unrest – is a figure who brings constant motion between worlds. His cunning and power of manipulation are as great as they are destructive. He is the one who brings ruin upon the gods, yet also becomes an unwitting instrument of transformation.

Heimdall, on the other hand, is his complete opposite – the guardian of Asgard, the embodiment of vigilance, light, and order. His hearing reaches across all worlds, and his sight pierces through darkness. It is he who will blow the Gjallarhorn for the first and last time, announcing the beginning of the end – and it is he who will face Loki in a battle that will claim the lives of both.

Their clash is more than a duel of two gods. It is the symbol of forces that have shaped the world since its dawn: chaos and order, destruction and renewal.

One battle – two frames

The Ragnarök series once again combines mythology with artistic craftsmanship. The design by Kinga Sabatowicz transports the viewer into the heart of the legend – filled with emotion, expression, and drama.

Ragnarök: Loki 1 oz Black Silver BU depicts the god of deceit aboard his ship, sailing toward his fate and the gates of Asgard. Arrows fly through the air, and his gaze burns with determination.

Ragnarök: Heimdall 1 oz Black Silver BU presents the guardian of Asgard standing on the shore – ready to face the enemy he has known for ages.

Ragnarök: Loki & Heimdall Geminus 2 × 1 oz Silver BU consists of two one-ounce coins combined in an Infinity capsule. Ennobled with gold and ruthenium, they form a joint scene in which the opponents prepare for their ultimate confrontation. Gold and black symbolically emphasize the contrast between them: light and shadow, order and chaos. The set is enclosed in a specially designed blisterpack.

Ragnarök: Loki & Heimdall 2 oz Silver BU Ultra High Relief marks the culmination of the saga – a dramatic scene of the gods final battle. The design differs from the one-ounce coins, capturing the decisive moment when Loki falls to a piercing strike of the sword, while Heimdall’s heart is pierced by the spear of the trickster god.

As in the previous release, this coin is enriched with two natural gemstones, symbolically assigned to each of the gods. Moss agate and tiger’s eye represent their opposing energies – chaos and vigilance, destruction and protection – highlighting the mystical dimension of their duel.

When illuminated with UV light, the coin reveals hidden details: the weapons glow with light, while the cracked earth shimmers with deep crimson – like the pulsating energy of a world on the brink of annihilation. The high relief adds impressive depth and realism, accentuating every detail – from the tension in the gods muscles to the fractured ground beneath them.

The reverse once again features the Germania Mint’s double-headed eagle, surrounded by runic patterns and the symbols of both gods – Heimdall’s horn and Loki’s ship. The background, decorated with ornaments and fractured earth, echoes the imagery of the previous release, Sköll and Hati.

Each coin is struck in a limited mintage and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

Gemstones that carry power

In the Ragnarök series, every detail holds meaning – even the stones that adorn the coins. In the first release, Sköll and Hati, Germania Mint used moonstone and sunstone, symbolizing the harmony of opposites – day and night, light and darkness.

In the second release, Loki and Heimdall, the coins feature moss agate and tiger’s eye – minerals of completely different energy. Moss agate, attributed to Loki, symbolizes nature, chaos, and transformation – the unstoppable force of change that leads to rebirth. Tiger’s eye, associated with Heimdall, radiates golden light, strengthening intuition and vigilance – the qualities of the divine guardian. Together, they create a tense yet harmonious contrast – reflecting the relationship between the two gods whose fates intertwine in the final battle.

The end that becomes a beginning

The Ragnarök series is a tale of the world’s end – but also of its inevitable renewal. Within chaos and destruction lies the seed of new life. The Loki and Heimdall coin symbolizes this turning point – the last breath of the old world and the spark from which the new one will arise.
